Pipe bender arrives

Look at the size of this monster! It weighs a ton. No wonder it cost £23 to deliver.
It doesn't have a die to exactly suit my pipe size. There is an 1-1/2" and a 2" dia die, but not a 1-3/4" (44mm - my pipe size)
So does this matter? should i line the 2" die with a 3mm thick copper liner?
Im not sure how easy it is going to be to bend tight bends or compound curves..... maybe not for no reason do trike builders use 2"x2" angle iron

Any chance of opening out the inch and a half to 44mm? It's only a bit of filing and you've already made the investment in the tools. I think it's essential that the die is a good fit if you want god bends. I would guess that with thick wall tube it is not so critical as with thin wall tube. When I had my SS exhaust made for the car they used a hydraulic power driven machine. I was not impressed how the tube "necked" at the bends. I didn't kink but it would not have looked pretty on the bike but then it was SS and thin walled.
Can you ask one of your trike builders about his experience.

Ha! what a coincidence - thats exactly what i was thinking about in bed this morning! (Trike is all i think about these days :-(
Ive had a look at the dies and actually the 1"1/4 die is very close and wouldnt need too much of a file out.
I wonder if the dies are oversized for a purpose? ie do you have to allow for some side expansion as the tube bends?
Having now handled the tube - this is going to be pretty strong stuff... id be suprised if i could kink it!
